Solar Grid Tied

Current Situation
(1) Your current utility meter measures the electricity consumption used inside your house by items such as lighting and appliances.Under the Ontario feed-in tariff program (FIT) this configuration will not change. Energy used inside your house will still be purchased at the low price of approximately C$12 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) all inclusive.

New Situation Under Ontario's Solar Feed-in-Tariff Program (FIT)
(5) Under the Ontario feed-in tariff program (FIT) we install very efficient solar electric system on the roof that convert sunlight into electric energy during the day.
(4) This energy is not directly compatible with the utility grid.
(3) In order to make it compatible a utility inverter is required.
The purpose of the Ontario feed-in tariff program (FIT) is to sell all the energy produced by the system for 20 years.
(2) An additional utility meter (revenue meter) must be installed in order the measure the solar energy production.
(4) The solar energy is sold to the utility grid at the high price of C$80.2 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and your local utility company pays you for the energy produced based on your regular settlement period.

During the day you both consume and generate energy at the same time. You therefore use solar energy indirectly.
The approximate life span of the system is between 30 to 35 years.
